What NicknameFF collects when you use the nickname generator, where it is kept, for how long, and how to ask us to delete it.

Last updated: 30 September 2026. This page explains what NicknameFF (nicknameff.net) collects when you use the nickname generator and the rest of the site, why, where it is kept and for how long. NicknameFF has no user accounts, no advertising and no analytics scripts.

Short version

  • You do not sign up, log in or give us your email to use the site.
  • We do not run Google Analytics, advertising networks, social media pixels or any other tracking script.
  • When you generate a nickname, the name you type and your IP address are sent to the name data server that powers the generator.
  • Favourites, likes and your votes are remembered in your own browser, not in an account.
  • You can ask us to delete a nickname you added at any time: [email protected].

What happens when you use the generator

When you type a name and press Generate, your browser sends that name to our website. Our website then asks the name data server (a server in the EU run by the same operator as NicknameFF) for styled versions of the name. With that request we send:

  • the name you typed;
  • your IP address, used to limit abuse (too many requests from one address) and to block banned words.

The name is stored in the name library so the next person who types the same name gets results faster, and so the name can appear in lists such as “most searched”. We also count how many times each name is generated per day. Once a week, those name counts (the name, the game it was created for and the number of times, with no IP address) are sent to the operator’s own statistics server so we can see which names people look for.

The generator also looks up matching symbols and emoji for your name. For that lookup, the name is sent to our own translation service, and the English keyword it returns is sent to our own symbol server. No IP address is sent with that lookup.

Nicknames you add, like or vote on

Under the generator results you can add your own nickname for a name, like a nickname, rate a name, or say whether a name sounds like a boy’s or girl’s name. When you do:

  • the nickname you add is sent to the name data server together with your IP address, so we can filter spam and banned words. Added nicknames are public: other visitors can see and copy them;
  • likes and votes are stored as counters. We do not store who voted;
  • when you copy a nickname from the results, we count one copy for that nickname. This is how the “top copied” ranking is built.

Nicknames stay in the library for as long as the name list exists. To have a nickname you added removed, email [email protected] with the exact nickname and the page where it appears. We remove nicknames that are rude, hateful, sexual or that use a real person’s name without permission, even without a request.

The “Is this website useful?” vote

If you vote on the feedback box, we store the vote as a counter. If you also choose tags or write a short message, that text is stored on our website so the team can read it; it is not linked to your name or email. To stop the same visitor voting many times, we keep a one-way code made from your IP address for 12 hours, then it is deleted automatically.

What is saved in your browser

NicknameFF saves a few small items in your browser’s local storage (not cookies) so the site remembers your choices on the same device:

  • your favourite nicknames (“My Favorites”);
  • which nicknames you liked and how you voted, so you do not vote twice;
  • a short-lived technical token that lets the generator talk to our website and blocks automated abuse.

This data never leaves your device unless you use the feature it belongs to. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for nicknameff.net.

Cookies

NicknameFF does not set advertising or tracking cookies. The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from bots and attacks. That cookie does not follow you to other websites and is not used for advertising.

Server logs

Like every website, our web server records technical logs of requests (IP address, page requested, time, browser type). We use them only to keep the site secure and fix errors. The logs are rotated daily and deleted after about 10 days.

Who we share data with

We do not sell or rent any data. Data is only handled by:

  • the name data server, translation and symbol servers and statistics server described above, all run by the operator of NicknameFF;
  • our hosting provider and Cloudflare, which deliver and protect the website.

We may disclose information if the law requires it.

Children

NicknameFF is a general-audience site and does not ask for names, emails, ages or photos. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The name you type into the generator can be any word; please do not type your full real name, phone number or address into it. If you are a parent and think your child added personal information to a nickname list, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the EU/UK GDPR or California’s CCPA), you may have the right to ask what data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it. Because we do not have accounts, we can usually only find data you point us to, such as a nickname you added. Email [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the site collects, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.
